Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
Brierley Hill Primary School
At Brierley Hill Primary School, we are proud to be an inclusive school where every child is valued as an individual. We are committed to helping all pupils, whatever their needs, achieve their best and feel happy, confident and part of our school community.
Our Inclusive Ethos
We understand that children learn in different ways and at different rates. Inclusion is at the heart of everything we do — it isn’t something separate or additional. Through high-quality teaching, carefully planned support and a nurturing environment, we make sure children with additional needs are supported both in the classroom and across school life.
At Brierley Hill Primary, we:
-
Promote respect, understanding and high expectations for all pupils.
-
Provide personalised support tailored to individual needs.
-
Work closely with parents, carers and outside professionals.
-
Make reasonable adjustments so every child can access the curriculum and school experiences fully.
How We Support Children with SEND
We follow the graduated approach set out in the SEND Code of Practice. This means support is carefully planned, reviewed and adapted to suit each child.
Our support may include:
Quality First Teaching
All teachers are responsible for meeting the needs of every child in their class. Lessons are adapted to ensure pupils can access learning in a way that works for them.
Targeted Support
Some children may receive additional small group work or specific interventions to help them make progress.
Specialist Support
Where needed, we work with external professionals such as Educational Psychologists, Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists and SEND Advisory Teams.
Working Together for the Best Outcomes
We believe strong partnerships make a real difference. We work with a range of services to ensure children receive the right support at the right time, including:
-
Dudley’s Local Offer – providing access to a wide range of SEND services and support.
-
Educational Psychologists – offering assessments and practical strategies.
-
Speech and Language Therapists – supporting communication development.
-
Health and Social Care Teams – promoting wellbeing, including mental health support.
