Safeguarding
Safeguarding at Brierley Hill Primary School
At Brierley Hill Primary School, nothing is more important to us than the safety, well-being, and happiness of our children and the wider school community. We are committed to ensuring that every child feels safe, secure, and valued both in school and at home.
We take our legal safeguarding duty incredibly seriously and have rigorous, robust systems and practices in place to protect all children. At the heart of our approach is a child-centred focus, ensuring that safeguarding remains our highest priority.
Our Commitment to Safeguarding
We are fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and young people, both within the school environment and in the wider community. As education professionals, we have daily contact with children, which places us in a unique position to:
Identify outward signs of abuse.
Recognise changes in behaviour or emotional well-being.
Respond promptly to concerns about a child’s safety.
All staff receive regular safeguarding training and are fully aware of the procedures to follow if they have any concerns about a child’s welfare. We expect every member of our school community—staff, visitors, governors, and volunteers—to uphold these safeguarding responsibilities.

By working together, we can make a real difference in keeping children safe, happy, and supported
Operation Encompass
Operation Encompass is a unique police and education early intervention and is an integral component in child safeguarding and protection. Operation Encompass will ensure that our DSLs are trained to allow them to liaise with the police and to use the information that has been shared, in confidence. Brierley Hill Primary School will ensure that we are able to make provision for possible difficulties experienced by children, or their families, who have been experienced a domestic abuse incident.
Early Help
Early Help is taking action early to provide support where problems are emerging for children, young people and their families. Early help support may be provided at any point. At Brierley Hill primary we want to invest in our young people and families and so can support our families during the Early Help process. Getting support at the right time from the right place is vital and if you feel like you would like to discuss these options or gain more information please contact Mrs Duffin (DSL) at Brierley Hill Primary School or your local children’s centre.
